Do you travel for video shoots in the Midwest?

Short answer

Yes. The Maestro Media is based in Columbia City, Indiana and regularly travels for shoots across Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, and St. Louis. Travel within a 4-hour drive of Fort Wayne is built into most production estimates.

Standard service area

Anywhere within a 4-hour drive of Fort Wayne, Indiana is treated as local: Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus OH, Cincinnati, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Louisville, and most of the Indiana Toll Road corridor. Travel time, mileage, and per diems are typically included in the quote rather than billed separately.

Beyond the local radius

For shoots farther out, we add travel as a separate line item: airfare, lodging, ground transport, and a half-day rate to cover travel time. Most national B2B clients we work with are surprised at how reasonable this comes out, since a 2-person Indiana-based crew flying out costs less than a comparable LA or NY crew traveling the same distance.

Why a Midwest crew often makes sense for Midwest companies

The cultural fit matters more than people expect. A crew that already understands manufacturing floors, family-owned businesses, and the specific rhythm of Midwest interviews tends to get better material on the day. Operators open up faster when the producer asking the questions sounds like someone they'd run into at a high-school football game.
